Sustainable equestrian surfaces

  • Naturally degradable and recycled materials
  • Resilience
  • supportive capacity
  • Water retaining

Sustainable equestrian surfaces are designed to be both environmentally friendly and functional for riders and horses. At Equinorm, the surface contributes to the health and performance of horses, regardless of whether it is used infrequently or extensively.

The term 'sustainable' is often used indiscriminately these days, but in this case, it is well-deserved. To date, most equestrian surfaces are made using plastics, geotextiles, and synthetic fibers. Equinorm consciously avoids these materials! Our mission is to utilize as many natural, biodegradable, and recycled materials as possible.

Sustainable and innovative

Many equestrian sports surfaces contain plastic chips. these chip provides cushioning, resilience and water retention in the sand. But there is one big disadvantage. The plastic shavings wear out with use. Ultimately, this results in microplastics in your product.

Are you replacing your sandbox? That means you'll need to dispose of contaminated sand, which is harmful to the environment.

At Equinorm this is done sustainably

Equinorm operates through circular soil systems. We’ve conducted extensive research to create the best natural soils for this purpose.

We no longer want sand enriched with plastic!

Why do we make sustainable equestrian surfaces?

We started Equinorm because, over the years, we noticed increasing resistance to the installation of traditional equestrian surfaces from permit issuers, waste processors, and environmental protection organizations. Mixing sand with geotextiles and synthetic fibers contributes to environmental pollution and creates issues when it comes to processing discarded surfaces. We've also observed that discarded materials are often not disposed of according to the applicable regulations. It's clear that this can, and certainly will, lead to significant environmental damage in the future. After all, synthetic materials are non-biodegradable and will eventually end up in the soil and groundwater.

Equinorm follows its own standards and aims to provide its clients and future generations with the best and most sustainable solutions.

Equinorm is a term associated with the standards and guidelines used to ensure the quality, safety, and sustainability of equestrian facilities and other horse-related environments. It encompasses a set of criteria and best practices aimed at optimizing performance and welfare for both horses and riders, while also considering ecological and economic sustainability.
